GRAND OPENING of the SEELEY EXHIBIT HALL

10-5 Friday –– Monday, May 24-27, 2024 across from the Overlook Park in Newcomb, NY. The exhibit titled, "Boats & Builders" featuring three local guideboats that will be on display. Two were built by Newcomb's own Caleb Judson Chase and his son-in-law, William Alden. The third guideboat, on loan from ESF Newcomb Campus, is presumably built by a local boat builder but unknown, believed to have never left Newcomb's waters. Come in and visit the freshly renovated exhibit hall, see these treasured boats, and learn about their builders.
Below is Caleb Judson Chase and his boat, the Queen Anne, commissioned by R.C. Pruyn for his wife, Anna Williams Pruyn of Santanoni. The fisherman is Edmund Chase, a son of Caleb, stepping out of his boat. Edmund was also a builder, taught his father, who continued to build boats after his father's death. Newcomb has a rich history.
